I am still enjoying the afterglow of a really fun time at the Michael Franti show at Cuthbert on Saturday night. The real treat was the opener, the Blue Scholars. An MC and a DJ put out some amazing dancable flowing rap with a social conscience. Let’s hope they make the trip down from Seattle more often!

The Coup gave it a good effort, but they couldn’t follow the Scholars. Boots Riley had the disco funk going along with the sweet afro, but the rains came and drove most of us to the beer garden.

Franti came out and gave a great show, and at that point, sometimes the music becomes secondary and you are just have a really good time with your friends, which is what it is all about anyway.

I hope everyone had a great 3 day weekend like I did. Here is a little mellow Franti to start your week off!
